Welcome!

My name is Travis, and I am The Astro Afro. I have been interested in space and science ever since I was a little kid. I remember when I was 12, I mowed lawns all summer to save up enough money to buy my first telescope, a 4.5in Orion reflector. Not for lack of trying, I could never seem to get the crosshairs aligned on my new telescope so I spent countless nights just wandering around the universe looking at random stars and it was awesome! I remember being blown away the first time I saw the craters on the Moon, the rings of Saturn, and the moons of Jupiter from my own backyard.

Lately I have been getting sucked into the world of astrophotography and I am about to jump in head, and wallet, first. I want people to be blown away by space and feel the same way I did when I was 12. I want my backyard astronomy oasis to be yours as well.

So, follow along and watch me struggle as I try to take pictures of cool things in space. And hopefully I can inspire a few people along the way.
